The work of the Friends is funded primarily via donations, gifts and memorials made to the Friends. Virtually all such funds received go toward fulfilling our stated purposes of advancing, promoting and safeguarding the interest of the garden. Our work has two components: Education and material projects. Donation 'how-to-do' details can be found on our "Donations" page.
The Friends have undertaken funding various projects over the years to benefit the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary. These projects are jointly worked out between the Friends and the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board. These projects are funded from donations and memorials received by The Friends. The most recent projects are detailed in this link: Recent project examples
In 2017 The Friends will be raising funds to complete the boardwalk project in the Wetland.
This is an appropriate time to donate to this valuable Garden project. 2017 is the 110th anniversary of the Garden and the 65th anniversary of the Friends. The boardwalk is our most significant project since the Friends built the Martha Crone Shelter in 1970, 47 years ago. The long-term benefits of a complete boardwalk will be as important as the Shelter was, and as long-lasting.
The Friends maintain a reserve fund for purposes of funding support projects for the Garden and for organization expenses not covered by memberships. If you can make a contribution of $5,000 or more to our reserve fund, we can create a special "named" fund, the income from which will support Garden projects chosen by The Friends. The annual use of the earnings of this fund will be reported to the donor
Remember the Garden in Your Estate Plan.
Please consider a gift to benefit the Garden in your estate plan. Estate gifts can be made through your will or revocable living trust by a provision such as this:
"I give $_____ to The Friends of the Wild Flower Garden, Inc. to benefit the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary."
You can also leave a gift by naming the Friends of the Wild Flower Garden, Inc. as a beneficiary of a portion of your life insurance or retirement account. Thank you for helping us fulfill our mission to preserve and protect the Garden!
